steve irwin, irwin design & the show training network
Steve Irwin provided lighting design services to the corporate theater and entertainment industries for over 35 years. In that time, he lit countless events that included lighting design and show services for five US presidents, multiple heads of state, royalty, some of the largest corporate shows known, and endless numbers of internationally recognized stars and performers.
Steve had excelled over many decades of luminary services in design, direction, programming and pre-programming as well as training, utilizing items such as wysiwyg, Capture, Vista, GrandMA and the Wholehog line of consoles. In fact, Steve and his brothers co-created several of the very popular wysiwyg Tutorials that were available from CAST Software.
Steve was also among the earliest users of the High End Systems Wholehog line of lighting consoles, even taking first delivery of a Hog II in the United States (#6 console). He also went on to develop much of the North American training materials and classes for the Jands Vista line of consoles. Since then he has taught countless others to use many of these powerful industry tools through the very popular online class network he has developed.
Steve also was the co-creator of ESP Studios in Atlanta, GA (which eventually made the visualization software, ESP Vision later purchased by Vectorworks).
After his retirement for health reasons, Steve continued to conduct online training and consulting, and was a regular contributor to the international publication Light Sound Journal (ZioGiorgio).
online support
One of Steve’s biggest pleasures was to create and run LightingTrainer. COM. It took several years to compile the massive amount of access to thousands of stage lighting training videos and materials that you will find at this website. It was a daunting task to build the site and we receive consistently high volumes of traffic from industry people of all types.
Soon after this successful venture he went on to create and run the largest stage lighting group on Facebook and on the internet, called Everything Stage Lighting. At the time of his death, it had grown to over 52,000 members. The Everything Stage groups continue to grow and are a valuable resource to people in the industry from around the globe.
With Steve no longer around to provide training, we have moved the previous LightingTrainer.COM site to its new home here as Everything Stage Lighting.
We are always eager to add new sponsors for our website and activities through all these social networks. If you’re interested in making it possible for many of the deserving industry youth and even veterans to have free and open access to an incredible amount of helpful stage lighting videos and materials, you can contact us at everythingstageads@gmail.com.
